"HAPPY HUNGER GAMES! AND MAY THE ODDS BE EVER IN YOUR FAVOUR!"
In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.
Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the games. But Katniss has been close to dead before-and survival, for her. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.
I give this book a 9 out of 10!
This is definitely one of my favorite books!
Alright, honestly, when it comes to me blogging and writing about books, my brain goes blank.
But I could talk/write about The Hunger Games forever!
So when I first opened the book, I got to page 1 and put it down; I did that probably 4 more times. When I finally opened it on a long car trip, I just kept reading it took me at least a few chapters before I didn't want to put it down!
It's reaping day, and Katniss is waking up, and she goes into the woods before the afternoon gets crazy with the reaping. She goes under the electric fence, and in the woods, she finds her best friend, Gale, who made it to the woods before her. They hunt, and when they head back into town, Katniss stops at the "Hod" to drop off some meat. Then she goes back to her house and is getting ready to go to the town square to find out who from District 12 is going to go into the Hunger Games this year. Katniss's younger sister Primrose is only 12; this is the first year she "qualifies" for the reaping. By the time they make it to the square, its pack. Effie Trinket is standing on the little stage right in front. Then she says, "Ladies First."
When her hand comes out of the bowl, she says, Primrose Everdeen. The minute Katniss heard her sister's name, she was yelling Prim, Prim them I volunteer as tribute, I volunteer as tribute. So, as Katniss is heading up to the stage, Prim is screaming and crying as Gale is carrying her away from Katniss. Then Effie Trinket says Boys next and she puts her hand in the bowl, stirs it around, and pulls out a name, Peeta Mellark! Katniss didn't recognize this name. Then she realized he was the boy with the bread, a baker going into the Hunger Games with Katniss Everdeen, a Hunter.
Peeta and Katniss were taken to rooms where they could say goodbye to friends, family, etc.
Then they boarded a train to the capital. This train took 2 days to get from District 12 to the capital. On the train, Peeta and Katniss got to know each other a little more.
When they made it to the capital, they had a floor for the 4 of then Effie, Hamitch, Peeta, and Katniss.
Now I don't want to spoil anything else, so just read the book!!!!
I could write so much more, but if you want any more at this point, read the book or talk to me about it!!!
